This stunning LPS coral features clusters of delicate, small-form polyps with chillingly bright "Sub-Zero" icy blue centers and crisp, dark outer rings. Because Merletti polyps are smaller than their Wellsi cousins, they form dense, mounded colonies that look like a flowering garden of frozen jewels.

Care Requirements

Blastomussa are among the most beginner-friendly LPS corals, provided they aren't "blasted" by too much light or flow.

💡 Lighting (Low)

• PAR: 50–100.

• The Sub-Zero color palette is best preserved under lower light. If the light is too intense, the icy blue centers may start to fade or turn a duller grey. Low-light placement also encourages the polyps to stay "fat" and fully inflated.

🌊 Water Flow (Low)

• Keep the flow gentle and indirect. Blastomussa have very delicate tissue that can easily be torn if pushed against their own skeleton by high-velocity powerheads. You want just enough movement to see the polyps wiggle slightly.

🍽️ Feeding (Moderate)

• While they are photosynthetic, they respond incredibly well to supplemental feeding. Target feed with finely ground coral foods, reef roids, or baby brine shrimp once or twice a week to see faster polyp multiplication.

📍 Placement

• Bottom / Sandbed. This is the perfect "filler" coral for those shaded nooks and crannies or for a low-light corner of your sandbed.

• Aggression: Peaceful. Blasto Merletti corals are non-aggressive and lack long sweeper tentacles, making them safe to place near other peaceful species.
