Description

UC Thunderstruck Acan Bowerbanki

Electrifying Color. Massive Presence. The UC Thunderstruck Acan Bowerbanki is a true collector’s trophy. This colony features oversized, fleshy polyps with deep crimson and royal purple base tones, accented by striking, "thunderbolt" white and neon streaks. Unlike common Acans, the Bowerbanki is known for its larger polyp size and a dense, plating growth form that makes it a bold architectural centerpiece for your reef.

  • Type: LPS (Large Polyp Stony)

  • Color Profile: Crimson, Royal Purple, and "Lightning" White Streaks

  • Growth Form: Massive / Plating

Care Requirements

Acanthastrea bowerbanki is a hardy coral that thrives when it’s well-fed and kept in lower-stress areas of the tank.

💡 Lighting (Low to Moderate)

  • PAR: 75–150.

  • Bowerbankis prefer the lower half of the aquarium. High-intensity lighting can cause the vibrant "Thunderstruck" patterns to fade. They look most dramatic under heavy blue/actinic spectrums.

🌊 Water Flow (Low to Medium)

  • Provide gentle, indirect flow. You want to see the thick, fleshy tissue swaying slightly. Avoid high, direct flow, which can cause the skeleton to pinch or tear the coral's mantle.

🍽️ Feeding (Highly Recommended)

  • These are active feeders! To maintain that "fat" look and encourage growth, target feed 1–2 times a week with mysis shrimp, chopped seafood, or high-quality LPS pellets.

📍 Placement

  • Bottom to Middle. Ideal for a low rock ledge or secured to the sandbed.

  • Space: While generally peaceful, they can be protective of their immediate area. Provide 2–3 inches of space from neighboring corals to allow for full expansion.

Recommended Water Parameters

  • Salinity: 1.024–1.026 sg

  • Temp: 76°F–78°F

  • Alkalinity: 8–9 dKH

  • Calcium: 420–440 ppm

  • Magnesium: 1300–1350 ppm
