Care Requirements:
Lighting: Moderate to High. ECC Nexus Burst Anemones thrive under moderate to high PAR levels (150-350 PAR). They will typically move to a spot where they are most comfortable with the lighting. Too low light can cause them to lose color, while too sudden high light can stress them. Acclimate slowly to new lighting conditions.
Water Flow: Moderate to Strong. These anemones prefer strong, turbulent, and indirect water flow that helps keep their tentacles clean and brings food particles to them. Avoid direct, laminar flow which can cause them to deflate and stress.
Water Parameters: Stability is key for anemones. Maintain pristine and consistent water quality.
Temperature: 75-78°F (24-26°C)
Salinity: 1.025-1.026 specific gravity
Alkalinity: 8-10 dKH
Calcium: 400-450 ppm
Magnesium: 1300-1400 ppm
Nitrate: <5 ppm (Anemones are sensitive to high nitrates)
Phosphate: <0.03 ppm
Feeding: Anemones are carnivorous and require regular feeding to thrive and grow. Target feed 2-3 times per week with meaty foods such as chopped shrimp, silversides, mysis shrimp, or krill. Ensure the food is small enough for the anemone to engulf.
Placement: Provide a suitable, stable rock crevice or a large, flat rock for the anemone to attach its foot securely. Do not place near powerhead intakes! Anemones will move around until they find a spot they like, so ensure all powerhead intakes are covered with a sponge or guard to prevent injury. They are also known to host clownfish, so if you have clownfish, they may eventually take up residence in the anemone.
Acclimation: Drip acclimation over at least an hour is highly recommended due to their sensitivity to changes in water parameters.
With diligent care and a stable environment, your ECC Nexus Burst Anemone will flourish, adding spectacular color, movement, and personality to your reef aquarium for years to come!
