UC Kingdom Hearts Blasto Colony
Unleash the power of the universe in your reef tank with this magnificent Blasto Colony! This highly prized Blastomussa wellsi coral is a true visual feast, showcasing an incredible combination of deep, rich colors. Named for its impressive size and galaxy-like coloration, each head of the UC Kingdom Hearts Blasto grows into a robust, fleshy polyp that adds substantial body and a dazzling glow to your aquascape. Perfect for both beginner and experienced coral enthusiasts, this Blasto colony offers stunning visual appeal with relatively forgiving care.
Care Requirements:
Lighting: Low to Moderate. Blastomussa wellsi corals thrive under lower to moderate lighting conditions (50-150 PAR). Too much intense light can cause them to bleach or recede. They often do best placed lower in the tank or in partially shaded areas.
Water Flow: Low to Moderate. Provide gentle, indirect water flow. Strong, direct flow can prevent the polyps from fully extending and may cause tissue damage. The goal is enough flow to keep detritus from settling on the coral without blasting it.
Water Parameters: Stable water parameters are crucial for Blastomussa corals to flourish and maintain their vibrant coloration.
Temperature: 72-78°F (22-26°C)
Salinity: 1.024-1.026 specific gravity
Alkalinity: 8-10 dKH
Calcium: 400-450 ppm
Magnesium: 1300-1400 ppm
Nitrate: <10 ppm
Phosphate: <0.05 ppm
Feeding: While photosynthetic, Blastomussa corals are voracious eaters and will benefit immensely from regular target feeding. Offer small, meaty foods such as finely chopped mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, coral pellets, or even high-quality coral foods designed for LPS corals, 2-3 times per week. Feed after the lights dim or turn off, as their feeding tentacles will be more extended.
Placement: Place the Blasto Colony on a stable rock structure in a location with appropriate light and flow. Ensure there is enough space around it, as its fleshy polyps can expand and may sting neighboring corals, though they are generally considered semi-aggressive.
With its incredible coloration, robust polyps, and relatively straightforward care, this Blasto Colony is an exceptional choice to add a touch of cosmic wonder and impressive beauty to your reef aquarium!
