Description
Prepare to be blown away by the XXL UC Jawbreaker Blastomussa Vivida. Blastomussa vivida is highly prized for having the largest polyps in the Blastomussa family, and this exceptional specimen is a true monster, expanding to a massive 3+ inches across when fully open! True to its "Jawbreaker" namesake, its incredibly plush, oversized fleshy polyp is splashed with a mind-bending, tie-dye pattern of vibrant, contrasting colors. This is a rare, ultra-premium showpiece that will absolutely dominate the lower levels of your aquascape and drop the jaws of anyone who looks at your reef.
Care Requirements:
-
Lighting: Low to Medium. To keep this massive polyp fully inflated and its jawbreaker colors vibrant, place it in subdued lighting. High intensity light will cause the coral to shrink and potentially bleach.
-
Water Flow: Low to Medium. Because this polyp opens to 3+ inches, a gentle, indirect flow is absolutely critical. Too much flow will aggressively push the heavy, fleshy tissue against its skeleton, causing severe damage and preventing it from fully expanding.
-
Placement: The sand bed or the lower third of your rockwork is the best location. Give it plenty of room to fully inflate without touching aggressive neighbors.
-
Feeding: Highly recommended. A polyp of this size has a huge appetite and will eagerly consume food. Target feed large meaty items like Mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, or high-quality LPS coral pellets 1-2 times a week to promote optimal health and maximum expansion.
